A Comment I Made at Z's Place
From Z's place.
Romney was supposed to have made a big gaffe in England recently.
I personally couldn't understand what they were talking about until it was pointed out to me what the gaffed was.
He was asked a question and spoke the exact truth. I even heard an NBC voice during the opening say the same thing about how Brit troops were pulled out of the sandbox to beef up security because of the problems they were having.
Of course he should have given the Queen an ipod with his favorite speeches, returned a bust of Churchill, given Cameron some wrongly formatted DVDs of himself, and had Ann touch the Queen.
That seems to be OK.

Not missing it.
Well, it's been well over a month since the surgery.
I don't know how long it will be before I say it out loud.
OK, I'll say it now.
No seizures since the night of the surgery.
I've lived on edge for so many years paying attention to every sound she makes.
No seizures was the reason she went through the surgery, but there were no promises they'd get all the trouble points because they were staying away from the anterior of the brain.
To look at her today, you wouldn't know what she'd been through.
She's still recovering, gaining strength and endurance.
She's spending a lot of time in her happy place, the kitchen.
Her sister living with us has been a big blessing.
Thank You Lord.

There are a number of movies and books about the anti-christ.
In most of them, the anti-christ comes out of nowhere, no past, a fortune to back him up and everything magically falls into place for him.
We all know that that could never happen in real life.
What a relief.

Constitutional Rights
I am not trying to make light of a serious situation.
What happened in Colorado is horrible.
It might have been preventable, or even only alleviated.
But not by gun control.
Let's be clear however.
You have a right to free speech.
You do not have the right to yell fire in a crowded movie theater.
They do not however forbid you to have a tongue, lest you might.
You have a right to bear arms.

Religious Freedom
I'm reading a book my son gave me, "Will the Real America Please Stand Up?".
I thought it was an attempt of his topander to me make me happy by giving me something that would reinforce my fundamentalist Christian political persuasion.
This book is one of the most engaging history books I've read about the founding.
It shows our founders' flaws as well as their glories.
It tells the tale behind some turning points that I thought I knew (from those authors whose perspectives I agreed with) and shows the conflicts among the parties involved in the founding with good detail, pros and cons.
I'm reading now about the Danbury Baptists and the letter to them from Jefferson about a "wall of separation".
I thought I knew this story, but Anderson portrays it more deeply including referencing earlier drafts and a background on Jefferson's position (that could me mis-construed to represent an ACLU position).
While Jefferson was opposed to National Days of Thanksgiving or Prayer, etc. as a principle, he was not opposed to the bedrock of morality (God's Law, or the "Law of Nature's God") forming our legal code.
What I came to realize out of this is that, while we have an explicit Constitution whose rationale is explained in the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers, jointly authored documents reflecting a consensus of founder's opinion
which liberal legal scholars choose to ignore as passe,
a letter to a group of formerly persecuted Christians promising them religious freedom, is held up as a Constitutional Precept, being only the opinion of Jefferson and not a legal document.
And so, the God whose Scripture informed the rationale of the Revolution in many ways, is now cast out of the government altogether.
Once again:
If we are to ignore the Constitutional precepts as they were originally formed, what do we care about what Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptists?

I'm Probably Wrong...
But it occurs to me, having heard on the radio that Penn State is a fine institution despite it's administration covering up for Sandusky's rape of young boys:
Penn State is a large academic institution, a bastion of progressive thought and liberal (marxist) philosophy,
it's administration totally sold out to diversity, gay rights, etc.
Why would they have a problem with Sandusky acting out on his "natural" inclinations?
I must be wrong about this, because I don't hear anybody else saying it...

Tyranus Obama
President Obama did an end run around the Second Amendment (right to bear arms) by signing a UN Treaty banning civilian guns (including hunting).
Pay attention folks. It's your rights he's messing with.

Is the Candidate Hiding Something?
Reuters:
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz raised the issue on "Fox News Sunday" as her interview time ran out.
"I'd really like to see Mitt Romney release more than one year of tax records, because there's been disturbing reports recently that he's got a Bermuda corporation, a secretive Bermuda corporation that no one knows anything about, investments in the Caymans, kind of Swiss bank account."
Even trade: Obama releases his transcripts.

Scherie's Home
Please excuse my apparent rudeness in neglecting to inform you concerning the status of my wife.
Last Saturday, she was doing well enough for them to evict her from her hospital bed.
On the way home we stopped and picked up a kit of antibiotic drip supplies including the pole and syringes.
A visiting nurse then stopped by the house to show Scherie's sister (who is now a member of our household) and myself, how to administer them.
Tanie is doing most of the work, which involves getting up in the middle of the night and changing the bag.
This will go on for two weeks.
Although I haven't been doing most (any) of the administering, it does disrupt my sleep, and I've been too exhausted to post until today.
She is doing so much better since yesterday.
Our friend came over and cut her hair, she got dressed, worked in the kitchen.
She is on oxycodone and tylenol, alternately.
But she is so much better than the last couple weeks.

Happy Independence Day
Lets look at some reasons we broke from the King of England (from the Declaration of Independence):
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. (Defense of Marriage, Immigration?)
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them. (Arizona, Immigration?)
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance. (Czars, Obamacare?)
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation.(Sharia Law, Law of the Sea, UN Gun Control?)
I read the preceding on air with Bill Bennett and it generated a: discussion.
You might also like this next segment about the: importance of the internet.
This Fourth of July, gather your family and read to them the Declaration of Independence.Stop eating long enough to discuss it.Have a moment to think about it.
Men died, saw their fortunes whither (went broke), survived battles to Declare that Independence.
Then, enjoy the fireworks!
