Thought for the day

Let's review.
We had a president for 8 years whose parents were Communists.
Whose Grandparents were communists.
Whose Mentor Frank Marshall Davis in Hawaii wrote for a communist newspaper and was an avowed communist.
Many believe that Obama might have even been part of a program by the Russian government of raising children as plants to come to high political positions in America. (Well, they have done that successfully through the American educational system.)
So now we have a theme running through the media that formerly ignored all of that about Obama, and now wants to promote the idea thatTrump might be unacceptably influenced by Russian connections.
My head is spinning.

50 comments:

  1. TO be fair, there was really no way to prove a theory that Obama was some sort of Manchurian candidate...he didn't really govern as one would expect such a plant would, IMO.

Theses days, there's plenty of strings to be pulled, as we've already seen. Time will tell, but the media is gong to go after shiny objects that it thinks will garner them a Pulitzer.

    1. To be fair, if you're going to parrot this idea of Obama as Manchurian candidate, you'll also have to figure out how the communists convinced Knuckles McCain to clear the path to the White House by choosing the pole dancer as a running mate.

Oh, the film was a satire of McCarthy.

    2. You realize of course, that I'm not defending nor supportive of the notion that Obama was a Manchurian candidate. I was pointing out, in fact, there was [in my mind] no meat on the bone for media inquiry....unlike the current Administration.

    3. While Obama did not surrender the US to Russia, he certainly did all he could to damage us.
Then there's that part about the off mic comment of being able to deal with Putin once the election was over.

    4. That's "hot mic" Ed.

It is presumed that he thought he was off-mic. With the way the elitists operate, it might have deliberate in the way of thinking 'the press is mine; they won't hammer me; my opponents will simply be pissed as there is nothing they will do about it; win-win.'

That man has displayed a chip on his shoulder bigger than anyone else in public office ever dared display.

  2. I don't think Obama was some kind of secret Manchurian candidate either. He openly governed as one. Nothing secret about him. And I agree regarding the media - they have an agenda and they plan on checking off on their list.

  3. As it is well worth noting the inconsistencies, your observation here is ahead of any observers I've yet read.

As far as the SSM is concerned, this is duh for them as their blather appears to be raising Trump's popularity.

Well done Ed. Filed under "inconsistency noted" and "Agency of Lies."

  4. It is interesting that this is the only right wing blog I've seen comment on L'affaire Kelly and the comment is a slam on Obama and defense of President Happy Hands.

    1. Actually, it's more an indictment of a feckless left wing media establishment.

  5. In reply to a number of the comments above, I am not suggesting Obama was a Manchurian Candidate but rather that many had thought he might be because of his background. A proven background. And yet Trump, track record proven capitalist is seen as a pawn of the Russians. By a group of left-wing journalists. Like I said, it makes my head spin.

  6. Trump addressed a lot of this at today's Press Conf.

  7. Our biggest problem is the media that doesn't report the truth. Propaganda is not our friend.

      The burden is on us.

  8. If you're of a mind, I'd like to ask you about something you said at Z's. I'd rather ask you here, as you're quite a bit more appreciative of the value of dissenting opinions...and not a blindered cheerleader.

I figure it’s either support Trump or support his opponents.
    There is no middle ground.

Do you really believe that? How would this square with Libertarian thought, for example [or even Conservative, as Trump is not one]. Trump continues to appeal to his base, in the campaign style goat-rodeo we witnessed yesterday to the upcoming "rally". He'll employ the same notions that he has been using: media bad, Trump always and forever GREAT, interspersed with various and easily debunked falsehoods. And his base will swallow it whole.

But how does this strategy expand his base? Or is that not a consideration? The current stock market rise is only intangibly related to Trump's inauguration, contrary to his claim that he's accomplished "more than any other POTUS at this stage...."

Picking a side as you say, eliminates the ability to offer just criticism when he steps on his crank, and alienates anyone who is trying to support him, but not one of his loyal sycophants.

I may be mischaracterizing what you intended to convey....but I haven't mischaracterized what I've witnessed from much of the right; this after 8 years of complaining [some rightly, some not]. It’s saddening and concerning that many who believe themselves to be Conservatives [not referring to you] use emotional gratification as their political currency….just as the Left does.

    1. That's a pretty good point, and I appreciate that you ask.
I'm not a Trumpolyte, and I value criticism of him, but do not think we should be joining in the media chorus right now.
It's a tentative start and he deserves a chance.
He's done some good stuff and I think he intends to do more.
I did not catch the presser yesterday but have been exposed to large portions since, all of which I've liked (as I can recall).
A constant repetition of the "I just wish he'd speak better." isn't going to help him speak better, it just adds to the sense of discontent that the left is trying to foster.
I don't want to amplify them.
The alternative they present is far, far worse than Trump currently is.

    2. I appreciate the call for temperance....it's much needed these days. But my point wasn't so much of "I wish he'd speak better". My point was more in line with his latest tweet.

"The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!"

I fear what he's trying to foster, more so than what the Left is.

    3. Fake news IS the enemy of the American People. I can't imagine a more disservice than misinforming people through lying, miscaracterization and lying by omission. If it every came to it, I'd be hunting media people.

    4. Part of my commenting is biased by influences unseen to others. A friend of mine, a conservative at the radio station, is horribly bashing Trump in e-mails to me.
Z continually points out his flaws and not his wins as much.
I no longer believe he is a manipulative Mussolini, as I earlier suspected. Is he a danger to the Republic? I don't know.

    5. I agree with Kid on this.
They ARE the enemy of the people as are many of our educational forces.
I don't believe he's targeting them to shut them up as a fascist, but to expose and oppose them.

    6. Ed, I don't sit around wondering whether I like DJ Trump or not. I look at the actions taken and evaluate those. I'm very pleased so far.

And My God, especially in relation to what could have been.

    7. Ed, Exactly. I believe most of the problems in America can be traced back to miseducation, which includes, schools and the media as main culprits.

    8. Fake news IS the enemy of the American People. I can't imagine a more disservice than misinforming people through lying, miscaracterization and lying by omission.

Absolutely. We are on complete agreement on this. Which makes me wonder why, when much of the "fake news" comes from the Administration, or Trump's Twitter feed....he's not held to the same standard.

It's now just as appropriate to refer to trump as a "so-called President", and label him an "enemy of the American people", no?

      Delete
    9. Yep. We'll obviously disagree on whether one party has it or not. Does not alleviate the fact that both parties engage in lies and the promotion of politically driven falsehoods. We're supposed to be better than playing the Leftists game.

    10. CI, Sure Trump has distorted some facts. To me No more and I think less than other presidents have red and blue. And not consequential life changing stuff for any American. So, his electoral advantage (or pick something) wasn't greater than any modern day president. Dumb to say but inconsequential in the scheme of things.

Jesus Christ would die a quick death in the White house.

I follow DJT on twitter. I think the vast majority of it is entirely rational. What fake news has come form the administration that you feel is significant. Especially as compared to every other president. We have to include that in this so divided country that started in Bush's time for sure, there will be attacks and defenses.

    11. PS - I believe DJ Trump is trying to get the American train back on the tracks. I see him working to restore law and order, the constitution, jobs for Americans, the economy, reject criminal illegal immigrants (Move to any other country and demand they support you!)

obama was and is a major enemy to the American people. DJ Trump is a friend and a tireless worker For America and the American people.

      Last word to you.

    12. No other President [at least in the modern era] has attempted to delegitimize any and every person or institution that dares to criticize him. Ask yourself what your reaction would have been, were Obama to have uttered the very words tweeted today.

If you're willing to give Trump a pass because you're a supporter, instead of holding him to the same standards as any other POTUS, great. But you can then surely not cock your head sideways when the Left does likewise with their guy in charge.

I don't oppose many of the things Trump has accomplished thus far [though it's much less than he brags it is], I oppose Trump's accelerating the political ignorance of the nation, especially stifling critical thought amongst the Right.

    13. Well, one last one.
The democrat party has left America with the major life sucking problems:
      - Stole SS and put it general fund. Now on verge on bankrupt
      - Created Welfare and WIC
      - Created fed dept of [non]education
      - Created large number of useless money sucking federal depts and agencies.
      - Gave EPA more power than congress and supreme court
There's more but this is enough. These problems are very life sucking significant and very difficult if not impossible to reverse.

    20. CI, you're a purist, it seems.
i appreciate your point of view and understand it.
But from a pragmatic point of view (which by some lights appears to sell out principle) I'm looking at two choices that could have been made for president in November. I thank God Trump won in the light of that. Flaws and all in comparison to the alternative.

      Delete
    21. Depends on how you define 'purist'. I don't think I am, but I do have some solidly core beliefs, that transcend what party is in power. I'm happy-er that Trump beat Clinton......but it's sort of a pyrrhic victory in regards to the long term health of the Republic.

      Delete
    22. CI,
IMO what happens with Trump's SCOTUS appointee(s) will have a great deal to do with "the long term health of the Republic."

I am absolutely convinced that HRC's appointee(s) to the SCOTUS would have greatly damaged our Republic for the long term.

      Delete
    23. AOW, I'm convinced clinton's appointees like the morons obama put on the court would have signed the death certificate for America. no doubt. Why the election was so important. Fortunately for us a lot of people 'got it'. This Was the issue. All else can be worked.

  10. Ya, and don't forget, we had a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE winning president....who got that for NOTHING! :-) I'm wondering how that'd go over if they gave it to Trump in HIS second month of the presidency !! Honestly, if there's an Anti-Nobel Prize, I'm thinking they'll give that to him , there's such hate.
