Bizarro World

These days, there are few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one's self and possessions.
This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss crossing on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well those are bullet holders for rifles.
Various armies, such as the Poles, during the Смута (Times of Troubles), or Napoleon, or the Germans even as the Tsarist state collapsed under the weight of WW1 and Wall Street monies, found that holding Russian lands was much much harder than taking them and taking was no easy walk in the park but a blood bath all its own. In holding, one faced an extremely well armed and aggressive population Hell bent on exterminating or driving out the aggressor.
This well armed population was what allowed the various White factions to rise up, no matter how disorganized politically and militarily they were in 1918 and wage a savage civil war against the Reds. It should be noted that many of these armies were armed peasants, villagers, farmers and merchants, protecting their own. If it had not been for Washington's clandestine support of and for the Reds, history would have gone quite differently.
And there's more at the link.
This is not the first time I've seena Pravda article warning us about Obama policies.
Is that weird or what?

  1. They have a century of horror to use for reference. At one time, that horror was examined in every public school and the students were warned of following the path that led to the USSR and Communist China.

  2. It's true... and sadly THEY do a better job of reporting than our own MSM...

  3. Too bad we don't teach history in school anymore.

I recomend a book called "black night, white snow" about the early days of the Russian Revolution(s).

  5. It is my suspicion that this is Putin (the last chief of the KGB) gloating over the KGB's success at infiltration of all our institutions (see the Verona Papers). It's his way of tweaking those of us who remember Khrushchev's words: "We will bury you."

It's not over yet. Who will aid the American Left in its takeover? Those of our children who we do not inform and thereby counter their indoctrination at risk of being informed upon.

See, it comes down to a few old men who understand what is at stake. I know I have an obligation to the memory of the men who made it possible for me to live free and prosper to my satisfaction. That means taking responsibility for my walking away from smaller fights years ago. For not being prepared when encountering people in authority who were crooked. For not learning how to be a leader and building my own bloc to influence the outcome. For all of that I am truly sorry.

Another thing I suspect: I am not alone in my memories. Share what you did wrong with those you trust and figure out what your group may do to derail the Statist diesel locomotive while you still have breath.

    1. Let me clarify the 2nd paragraph so I completely clear.

It's not over yet. Who will aid the American Left in its takeover? Those of our children who we do not inform and thereby fail to adequately assess and counter their indoctrination.

Then there is a risk of being informed upon (as the Statists begin to act more fearfully) for trying and failing. I am warning each one who thinks about speaking up that he has to weigh the level of risk he may face and act fully aware of it.

  6. Jess: a century of history, that as Joe points out we don't teach.
NFO: We used to joke about pravda, now we joke about mslbgt, er msnbc. When will MS bail from NBC?
Pascal: Well, when I was young I read Rolling Stone and supported the ACLU. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Mea Culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

  7. I assume you are aware that "Pravda" is a web site that is run by a Russian nationalist who believes in small government.
Since monarchy is as small as it gets, he wants the return of the czar.

He's a moron and his site has nothing to do with the old house organ of the communist party.

    1. The tzar had bureaucrats out the gazoo, including secret police and informants. It's one of the reasons it wasn't that hard to turn Tzarist Russia into Soviet Russia. A name change along with who was out and who was in (in at least until the strongman got worried about you).

So if you're correct that whomever is running Pravda (name?) thinks that a Russian monarchy is the answer to smaller government then he is indeed a moron. Do you have evidence that is his specific belief?

Besides, this is Pravda we are talking about. Were I running it, Pravda is not a name I'd continue using for any news organ for which I'd like to build credibility.

  8. AOW: Neoneocon used the same term the next day, but I doubt she read it here.
Duck: thanks for stopping by. You assumed wrong, but more info (as Pascal alluded to) would be helpful.
Still, it's always helpful to my argument to say "Pravda!" no matter who owns it no. :)
And how did you come by that info? I'm curious as to whether you already knew that or looked it up in response to this.
