To Sleep, Perchance to Dream...

My dreams are so disjointed and confusing.
Only a few times in my adult life have I had a pleasant dream.
I'm an automation engineer.
One night, I spent most of the night dreaming that there were industrial robots in the hallway outside our room.
Their controller was my alarm clock.
I mentioned this to another (brilliant) engineer the next day.
I said I spent most of the night "programming" my clock radio.
He said, "You do that too?".
And the problem solving is always unsolvable.
It seem's it's common among us.
I don't have nightmares.
I just have restless nights of trying to make sense of something, that upon awakening, I realize is senseless.
Then I fall back asleep and continue doing it.

I hadn't intended when I started writing this to make the following comment, but it begs to be made.
"When will I wake up from this present political climate that makes so little sense.?"

  1. When? You won't. You'll just do what we all will do - one morning you'll fail to wake up on the green side of the lawn. Your problems will be over and done with.

I've been fairly cognizant of our political situation since the Democratic national convention of 1968, when I realized the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights were only words on paper. Paper makes a lousy shield.

  2. Gotta agree with Mad Jack... 68 or 61 were really the turning points, depending on how you want to look at it... And programming? Yeah, we all do that!

  3. Ed, Man, very well stated - in relation to my own dreams lately. I'm a computer programmer-application developer, and I often enough have dreams where I'm trying to solve the unsolvable. Like you say, I wake up and realize I'm struggling with the absurd. These dreams last a good long time too. I hit snooze about 5 times.

I wonder if it Does have to so with the political environment which has no light at the end of the tunnel. Meaning, republicans being in power is no solution either. imo.

  4. Wow Kid!
I wonder if we qualify for disability or something.

  5. I love Ed's suggestion; we should all go to the Democrats and ask for inclusion into the "Affordable Health Care Act" that Republicans can get PTSD help or something!

By the way, remind me which part is AFFORDABLE? A company just came to my work and gave the staff a presentation of health care all of which are going to raise our costs at least 30%. And more to come. Talk about nightmares.
