STOP THE WORLD

Well it's okay to murder babies
But we really ought to save the whales
We're putting criminals in office
Cause it's way too crowded in the jails
T.V. is our teacher now
The schools are overrun by thugs
And children skip their innocence
and graduate to sex and drugs
Right is wrong and wrong is right
White is black and black is white
I think I just lost my appetite
Stop the world I want to get off

Stop the world
I want to get off
This is too weird for me
Stop the world
I want to get off
I get the definite impression
That this isn't how it's meant to be
     No, no

Fear is taking over
Anxiety is on the rise
Well you can feel it in the air
You can see it in your neighbor's eyes
The working man is desperate
He can't support his family
And we could pull the nation
Out of debt for what
We spend on locks and keys
And even suburbia is under attack
They're all buying handguns
Trying to fight back
There's a vigilante picnic
In the cul de sac
Stop the world I want to get off

Stop the world
I want to get off
This is too weird for me
Stop the world
I want to get off
I've just got to find a planet
Where they're interested in sanity
     Hey yeah

I wish I had some spaceman gear
I swear I'd fly away from here
I cry to God this fervent prayer
"Oh, please, just take me anywhere
Don't leave me here"

We take our loftiest intentions
And engrave them all neatly in stone
And once they're safely up there
We'd prefer that they just leave us alone
Cause it's the law of the jungle
With distinctly carnivorous vibes
Yeah, we may dress up in tuxedos
But we function like Germanic tribes
It's the age old sin in a modern day
From the club of Cain to the laser ray
But now we can blow everybody away
Stop the world I want to get off

Stop the world
I want to get off
This is too weird, a little too weird
Stop the world
I want to get off
I've just got to find a planet
Well I've just got to find a planet
Got to find a planet where
They're interested in sanity

yeah, yeah
Somebody stop the world
Ooh yeah
Somebody stop the world

  1. I just heard a law student on CNN saying that Hillary isn't left enough...not strong on climate change, income inequality, etc. I sit there thinking "when did we forget what America's about?"
I think "I want to get off" is just about right :-(
Who'd have ever thought we'd feel this way?

      Oh yeah. Public schools.

    2. Sad, isn't it, Ed. Imagine a country that insults ITSELF as ours does. Do you know I don't think there's another country in the world which teaches hatred for itself?
The liberals in Germany tried to make young, uninvolved children, to hate Germany after the NAZI era (believe me, I know this) and it worked a little but not too much. (they couldn't sing the national anthem, they made the kids feel guilty tho they were too young to have done anything)...my friends in their late sixties often say they admire how Americans have the 4th of July and other ways to show country-love and they don't have that.
BUT, in general..we are THE only country whose leftwing teachers (approx. 95% of our teachers in universities) are Ward Churchill wannabees...they just don't have his guts to be as ugly as he is in public.
America will not survive this phenomena...not the America we know of self reliant, goal oriented patriots. never.

    3. Prayer. And the ACLJ.
Did you ever see "God's Not Dead"?
I don't recall you saying so.

  2. It is sad those lyrics all ring so true. Glad we're not for this world.

    1. I'm wondering if anyone clicked the link and listened to the tune.
      It's really quite good.

  4. Ed:

I've personally never under any circumstances afforded a musician's lyrics on any topic any credibility. Now, if Albert Einstein had penned a ditty and it made Casey Kasem's Top 40, then maybe I might take notice. Or Milton Friedman, I'm sure he could rock and roll if just given half a chance.

But musicians are not profoundly brilliant thinkers. They can arrange notes on the scale, practice their instruments of choice for years, and if they are lucky they catch Kasey's attention. And Dick Clarke would judge the merits on these musicians' product based on how well a teenager could dance to it.

Musicians get famous for one reason: ask Kasey or Dick what that reason is, but both will admit it's not because of the huge, bulging brain of the artist. When these artists start to believe that people will listen to them regardless of how far they stray off of their particular reservation of talent, that is when I turn their garbage off.

Babs Streisand, Cher, the Dixie Chicks, Bono, Bruce Springsteen and others spew their liberal idiocy from their soap boxes built on music, not on brains, and we all see what we get.

The tune that sticks in my mind after all these years had the artist sticking to their knitting: 'Louie Lou-ah, oh no, we gotta go now.' Now THAT's stuff for the ages....

    1. Bono deserves a DOUBLE DOSE of 'stick to your day job' juice. Maybe even a triple dose, Ed.

  5. Artists reveal the truth through their art-
-Mendelssohn was a great composer/lyricist-water colorist- swimmer (just found that out) and he honored our Lord-Jesus Christ--
Michelangelo - used his fabulous talent to subtly reveal the pedophilia in the powerful Roman Catholic church-(anyone take a close look at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel --
    and Goya- WOW- the same--
I could go on but- this comment would get VERY long--

    1. to add-
as to lyrics-for songs- they are poetry- poetry is the wisdom of the ages- and 'gets to the point' (brevity) w/o a long tome--remember-brevity is the soul of wit--and-poetry must be read (sung) aloud- to remove a vagueness or cloud-
We Constitutionalists should be writing more poetry and lyrics--

    1. You can also judge a country by the way it treats its elderly and children. Beyond that, we've also thrown away our country's dignity in the eyes of the world.
