Veteran's Day

I was on the radio this morning talking about my friend Nate Weiser.

This is me, back when I was in USAF Comms.
I actually looked happy.

  2. Thank you for your service, sir! (Those glasses make me think we served at roughly the same time.)

    1. I was gonna guess early 70s but you clarified before I could weigh in. Those were my "good ol' days." My thanks, as well.

  5. Love those OD green fatigues. Used to wear 'em myself, for over 10 years active duty. At the end of my active duty days, they changed those beloved OD fatigues to the camo (forest) pattern based on expectations that our next great battles would be with the Soviets pouring through the temperate zone which included the Fulda Gap. Nope, never happened, and now fatigues are mostly desert pattern.

As David Bowie crooned, 'ch-ch-ch-changes, look out your rock-n-rollers."

    1. Me either, Ed. We used to call them 'pickle suits.'

    2. I came in just as the pickle suits were going away; and I was a little jealous. Those who were still wearing them during the phase-out period, were the 'salty veterans' to myself and my newbie, greenhorn peers.

    3. I saw the pickle suits as a thread from the war my dad was in.
      New BDU's look... non-traditional.
