I was asked to co-host a local radio show today.
Not national, but it reaches all of southeast Michigan and the world (on the net).
I was filled with apprehension as I didn't want to let on how little I actually knew on a radio show.
The other guest host goes by "Mike from Ann Arbor".
If I had time, I would spend days researching Mike's story.
There's a reason he doesn't go by his last name.
Quite a history.
An honor to be on the air with him.
And Gary Wellings, who I discovered is the brother of a guy I used to have lunch with daily!
I asked, at the urging of Scherie, after the show ended, and Gary smiled like he knew the question was coming, but he had to leave abruptly.
Well, here's the show.
I referred to comments by Pascal and Ducky and referenced a discourse with Z.
We talked Planned Parenthood, Chattanooga and the TPP.
Brandon Drake who used to appear on the show called in to redirect us to Iran.
So, here it is:

Earlier in the afternoon I was appealed to call in to The American Dream in response to another caller, Ken from Livonia.
I got to make a few points about Christianity in America and the schools.

I'm curious what you think. I usually listen to myself to critique (I don't umm and ahhh as much as Obama), but a couple extra ears wouldn't hurt.
I think you've got a great radio voice. Good cadence and pitch. If I lived in your neck of the woods, I'd give your show a call.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir. I've got a radio face, also.
DeleteFantastic job! I missed the heads up though. I would have phoned in a heckle.
ReplyDeleteThat's why. :)
DeletePretty awesome. You sounded great Ed
ReplyDeleteThanks Bri!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Z.
DeleteScherie and I listened to the Lutheran Hour today (which is Missouri Synod).
I love it and I'm not Lutheran, but it was a rebuke to Ken.
All about fellowship in God.
Ken calls in to Bennett often also.
I was surprised to hear Linda ask me to call in to refute Ken.
I met her in the studio later when we did our show.
Looked just like I figured which doesn't happen too often with radio voices.
I was so concerned that I wouldn't be prepared. Gary said "relax, The hour will be over before you know it" and he was right.
The producer was Fundip Dan Martin. He produces Louder with Crowder.
If you've seen the video, Jihadi Witnesses:
https://youtu.be/BSyPgQeGlgU
He's the muslim in the beard and guy who kisses Stephen at the end.
Mike and I both were zoning out on TPP. I wanted it clarified.
We both wanted to make the point, low skilled jobs will leave.
But that congressman (Tim Walberg) is highly respected around here in conservative circles. His district surrounds my community which is in Dingle's district.
You and I were discussing motive of the Chattanooga killer (Isis or not) and whether it was important or not and that's what I was referring to.
As for hogging the mic, it was so great working with those two.
We hand signaled an deferred to each other.
Thanks for the grade. Your commenting here brightens my day.
Well, since you deleted your comment, all the stuff I replied about is now pointing to stuff you "never said". :)
DeleteWell, you can see why I deleted the TOME, I hope. I didn't really need to put in MY two cents on the subjects! :-)
DeleteHand signals are essential....good job....
I am sure Walberg is highly respected; it just isn't great radio when it's a subject that assumes everybody knows about it....I'd have turned it off during that segment, to tell you the truth. Mike saved the day! I thought you handled it well because you knew the stuff well, though.
I thought it was entertaining and seamless...no stalls, no stumbling...impressive!

Emailed you my NOVEL of a critique after all; too long for here!
ReplyDeletePublicly, I want to say I thought you did an excellent job and I think your many experiences on Bennett's show has paid off.
VERY good job....your voice is good, you don't hog the mic....
it's very tough to be on a show where the host does all the talking or one guest won't let us talk....All of the guys on that show handled that very well.
The Congressman was dead dull, but Mike saved the day with "Make it simple!"....
Ed..congratulations...well done, truly.
Nicely done for a first effort! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you sir.
DeleteI thought your on air presence was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteMoved along smoothly. Not strident.
Your complete ignorance of the fact that Planned Parenthood does not and cannot by law sell tissue is pretty consistent with the poor content.
Planned Parenthood can only deliver the fetus to a transportation company (Mitt Romney is a majority investor in the largest) which delivers the fetus for medical research primarily stem cell research.
Now you can oppose the medical research on moral grounds and that would be intellectually honest.
However, equating Planned parenthoods activity to cannibalism and profiteering is lying. Got that, lying.
So in fact you have no idea what the tape discussed.
I will say that your radio presence is very good.
Thanks Duck.
DeleteI think I demonstrated my understanding of the fact that Planned Parenthood does not and cannot by law sell tissue by saying that some on the left claim that it was only a transportation fee, my refutation being that the fee seems to change based on organ.
Also, it is still barbaric to tear that baby apart to do that harvesting, which is admittedly happening.
See the definition of cannibalism in Pascal's comment in the previous post on barbarism.
I did listen to more of the tape from the link you posted previously, but I am not retired yet and didn't see the need to look for a redeeming note in such an atrocious conversation.
I'm surprised you didn't say anything about TPP, which frankly you first made me aware of, thank you.
DeleteBut half the show seemed to be about that.
That's a good point about the TPP, Ed.
DeleteThere's an issue that has bipartisan opposition.
Is that type of topic going to engage and hold a larger audience than a divisive topic that is likely to just play to the choir?
Not if it's discussed in the droning monotone I heard Saturday :)
Deleteand PP certainly wouldn't lie...like they do about doing mammograms!
Deletegood show--thank you -
ReplyDeleteC-CS
Thanks Carol.
DeleteNice job Ed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Imp!
