I Officially Live In A Totalitarian State

So, because the legislature won't extend the emergency, Whitmer is terminating her Executive Order.
And then in her next order, Executive Order 2020-67 (COVID-19) she reinstates them.
For the same stated purpose.
What?!?!?

Executive Order 2020-66 (COVID-19)
For the reasons set forth above, the threat and danger posed to Michigan by the COVID-19 pandemic has by no means passed, and the disaster and emergency conditions it has created still very much exist. Twenty-eight days, however, have elapsed since I declared states of emergency and disaster under the Emergency Management Act in Executive Order 2020-33. And while I have sought the legislature’s agreement that these declared states of emergency and disaster should be extended, the legislature—despite the clear and ongoing danger to the state—has refused to extend them beyond today.
Accordingly, acting under the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and Michigan law, I order the following:
The state of emergency declared under the Emergency Management Act in Executive Order 2020-33 is terminated.
The state of disaster declared under the Emergency Management Act in Executive Order 2020-33 is terminated.

The following is an illegal act by the Governess of Michigan, seizing power not given her.
EXECUTIVE ORDER

No. 2020-67

Declaration of state of emergency under the
Emergency Powers of the Governor Act, 1945 PA 302
Acting under the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and Michigan law, I order the following:

  1. A state of emergency remains declared across the State of Michigan under the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act of 1945, 1945 PA 302, as amended, MCL 10.31 et seq.
  1. This order is effective immediately and continues through May 28, 2020 at 11:59 pm.
  1. I will evaluate the continuing need for this order prior to its expiration.
  1. Executive Order 2020-33 is rescinded and replaced. All previous orders that rested on Executive Order 2020-33 now rest on this order

Barr to the rescue?

Attorney General Barr tells prosecutors ‘the Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis’
Posted: April 27, 2020  AP
WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General William Barr on Monday ordered federal prosecutors across the U.S. to identify coronavirus-related restrictions from state and local governments “that could be violating the constitutional rights and civil liberties of individual citizens.”

The memo to U.S. attorneys directs the head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division and the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan to coordinate the department’s efforts to monitor state and local policies and take action if needed.

“If a state or local ordinance crosses the line from an appropriate exercise of authority to stop the spread of COVID-19 into an overbearing infringement of constitutional and statutory protections, the Department of Justice may have an obligation to address that overreach in federal court.”

  1. Makes you wonder what EO 2020-34 to 2020-66 contain, doesn't it?
