ReplyDeleteBUT, BUT... JASMINE CROCKETT SAID “ WE DONE PICKING COTTON. “
ReplyDeleteSuper busy here, and not listened in awhile. So, so glad I tuned this in late. Brilliant discussion!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE "these men and women that we TEMPORARILY send to represent us." and "You can't just willy nilly create boards and agencies who make laws we have to follow." There was a recent case about this - fishing in New England who where they rebelled against agency "usurpation" by making up rules that forced boats to have agency people on them and pay a big price for it. The fishermen won. Chevron deference lost! It looks like they just keeping "trying." The Commissars certainly do in my locale.
That case of claiming commissioners should remain because they were already there is such a clear case of "poison fruit of a poison tree" I'm a little surprised they weren't laughed out of court.
Here's a thought experiment for you: bring some of the founders who wrote the constitution forward in a time machine for 6 months, then let them go back to tighten up a few things in their writing. :)
Your caller John is right about language. I ALWAYS refer to our country as a republic. Always. I LIKE her response about democratic processes, authority, and accountability.
Here's a good historical example of how the power of judges gets out of control. Moses accepted advice to create a council of tribal leaders to offload a lot of the petty decisions in judging the people. That was good. Under his authority with clearly defined boundaries. Time passed. Those 70 morphed into an all powerful oligarchy that sent Jesus to the cross.

A Georgia man who allegedly made threats against President Donald Trump and members of his administration was arrested Friday night.
ReplyDeleteThe FBI said it arrested Aliakbar Mohammed Amin, 25, of Lilburn, Georgia, according to WSB-TV.
The FBI alleged that Aliakbar Mohammed Amin, threatened Trump, the White House and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Bottom line, the new FBI does not, and will not tolerate any threats and will hold offenders fully accountable.
