Yeah, the Jesuits were tough Kahunas. One of my favorite books was The White and the Gold by Thomas Costain, on the French regime in Canada which goes into those hardships in detail. They were true believers. A rare skip, I did not take notes on the book so this discussion was a nice fill-in.

What an interesting piece on Finney. I had NO idea. Man, what God can do. As you know, Z and have a dear friend whose husband - also a friend - was murdered 2 weeks ago. I have prayed for our friend, his widow, to have this kind of close and clear encounter in comfort from our Lord. It happens. I like that Finney was not an emotional preacher (neither was Jonathan Edwards who sparked a great revival earlier). Once the feeling washes out they had substance in their hearts and minds. That was a greatness of Charlie Kirk.
So much here. The Booths. Again, no idea. Red Cross, Salvation Army. So many wonderful organizations arising from our Christian roots. And basketball as a witnessing tool? Inspiring, in this very dark day.
