A Day That Will Live In Infamy

A Day That Will Live In Infamy
That's a link to a post I did a few years ago about a Pearl vet friend of mine, Nate Weiser.
Scherie and I visited with Nate last night. He just turned 98 a few days ago.
He and Norma looked pretty good, health is good, memory not so much.

  1. Great post Ed. I was able to get a closer and more personal look at the Pearl Harbor attack just a couple months ago. A friend of my wife's is a Battalion Commander at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii....and his wife is close friends with Katrina Luksovsky, who lives on Ford Island in one of the historic homes that were present in 1941. She has made it her mission to learn the stories of the families who lived there on December 7th. We were able to get a personal tour of the Ford Island housing area, and learned how the families and children reacted to the attack. For context, her house is roughly 100 meters away from the USS Arizona Memorial.

Katrina took these stories, interviews with the surviving children and photos, and through Kickstarter, printed a book detailing these accounts. Needless to say, we ordered several copies. I'm not pimping her book, but if you're interested, her url is:

There was also a previous effort by another author titled "The Children of Battleship Row.

And being dog people, my family was touched by a Sunday comic that I put on my site. The original is here:

  2. The best man at my wedding had an uncle who died on the USS Arizona on that awful day in 1941. I just wish our current Democrat president would take our sworn enemies as serious as a Democrat president did in 1941.

It's now a Democrat party that bears absolutely no similarity whatsoever to the Democrat Party of 73 years ago.
