Pastor Richard Clark Deitering had me on his program on Christmas Saturday, A Moment of Clarity.
You might like it. Pretty informative and funny.
You can listen here.
One of the things we talked about was the true story of Santa punching a guy out.
Also: where "X-Mas" came from, and why it does not deny Christ.
Put it on while you're licking stamps and mailing cards.
Nicely done! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm kinda proud of this one.
DeleteSorry I can't listen right now but 'deny Christ?' I don't think that's what anybody thinks of X-Mas, but I do think it's sloppy and unattractive ....doesn't deny Christ, just abbreviates him :-)
ReplyDeleteWill try to come back and listen.
Hmmmm.
DeleteI've heard many decry the X in Xmas as trying to get Christ out of Christmas.
Also there is the abbreviation.
You're probably right, many do think that...I just don't see how Christ is deniable :-) But ya....maybe it's just that I've had a 'thing' about X-Mas for years and don't like it one bit....it's just me!
DeleteZ: Listen starting at 15:40. You don't have to sign in, go to the bottom of the page and click.
DeleteBut the whole show is informative and entertaining.
We do love our real Christmas tree.
ReplyDelete"I'm not trying (to shuffle), it just comes naturally." - this made me crack up.
Albert Finney as a musical Scrooge in the top 5. So is Patrick Stewart as Scrooge. But I agree that George C Scott is #2 just behind Alastair Sims.... maybe.
Frankenmuth is Christmas town.
Take your wife to the movie.
Merry Christmas!
Like I just commented at Z's, We were headed to Frankenmuth but then got an invite to our niece's house.
DeleteFrankenmuth on the 24th then.
Merry Christmas to you my friend.
