That's Pretty Graphic!

  1. Would love to. But hubby insists, as does the governor.

    1. No shame. Ya gotta pick your battles.
I know a young kid in Colorado whose parents went out to visit and he would not hug his mom until he had a large garbage bag as a poncho to keep imaginary Covid from her clothes getting on him when she hugged him.
      Eagle Scout. Chip designer.
      That's a problem.

  2. Yep. All true. We're being played.

  3. I don't wear one, nor do I remain at a discreet social distance from others - unless the others start to freak out, like one of my neighbors. The otherwise intelligent and reasonable man actually believes that he and his can magically catch a disease of some stripe by being inside the magical six foot range while outdoors.

    1. We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.

  4. Noted recently that people living in the Middle East have very high incidences of Covid-19, half of whom have been wearing face coverings all of their lives. So, what's with that?

I do remember with fondness when a bended knee was not an American tradition. So which of these is the more startling factoid? (a) That US and state governments can place us all under house arrest, or (b) that 70-80% of the people actually comply?

    1. A friend of mine has been looking for stats on the Burqua/Covid thing.
      a) I don't get their authority.
      b) A lot of people comply out of fear, or what they think is courtesy or actual beneficial behavior. Enablers.

  5. The only mask that is effective is the N95 mask and that is limited to healthcare workers and last I heard the private sector was not permitted to purchase them. All other leak like a sieve and are worthless. Everyone in healthcare knows it. Lies and more lies.

  6. I rarely wear one because I rarely go into a store. But I had to get some cigars the other day. Since I have to wear a useless facemask on these are occasions, I also wear my Trump hat. Since wearing a Trump hat now takes your life into your own hands, I am also carrying (ok, I was carrying before all this crazy stuff started)...

  7. We keep N95 masks around for doing dusty work, like sanding paint, around the apartment building. I tried them ONCE out in public, but too uncomfortable.

Ed, I came here to note an update to the link I posted at Z's yesterday. Not sure if you'll see my answer, which is: it takes about a half minute to load. It looks weird before that. The fact that it was written by the elders of Fortress MacArthur, and John signed it really makes you sit and notice.

    2. Thank you! That's the context of my next radio show next Saturday. I'd already lined up a constitutional scholar on this topic, a former federal judge, head of the Great Lakes Justice Center.
The Nevada Church case and Newsom's ban.
