Taught to War

We find ourselves beset by enemies foreign and domestic.

There's a learning curve in dealing with them.

1 Now these are the nations which the LORD left, that He might test Israel by them, that is, all who had not known any of the wars in Canaan 2 (this was only so that the generations of the children of Israel might be taught to know war, at least those who had not formerly known it), 3 namely, five lords of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who dwelt in Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath. 4 And they were left, that He might test Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commandments of the LORD, which He had commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. Judges 3:1-4

We were discussing this verse in my Bible Study Tuesday.

Life application:
We must look for judges to rise up to lead us to war.

On our knees before God and on our feet before demonic forces that seek to destroy us.

  1. The term “judges” infers wisdom and justice. I see no evidence of either of these things in our political structure — or any others, for that matter. Our politicians (I’m not able to call them leaders) spend more time involved in petty squabbles that focus more on furthering their agendas than they do in sitting down in council with one another to chart America’s future. So, while you may be looking for judges in America, don’t hold your breath. The sooner people realize that our political system is irreversibly corrupt and turn away from it, the sooner they’ll begin searching for something that matters. What really matters? We cannot begin to observe what is outside ourselves, with any degree of helpful understanding, until we first know ourselves. If we believe demonic forces are assailing us, we must take responsibility for that; we opened the door to satanic influences. God gave us a perfect world, and what have we done with it? We mucked it up.

    1. But I'm not talking about politicians. I'm talking about leaders. I think of people like Sean Feucht who's doing a rally in DC this Saturday.
      Pastor John McCarthur, Ron McCoy.
And people who are running for office or not natural politicians like Donald Trump did.

  3. We're under, I'd say, a great judgement. The gates of hell, nonetheless, will not prevail. Satan knows this, hence his increasing scorched earth operation.
