Today is a national day of mourning for our treatment of the indigenous peoples.
I mean Columbus Day, which is normally October 12th, but it had to be
moved to a Monday to give federal workers another three day weekend.
One of the benefits of an administrative state.
Saturday, I interviewed William Federer of AmericanMinute.com, historian, speaker, and author of numerous books on history and historical figures. And most importantly, friend of the show.
We talked about Christopher Columbus, the motivation for his explorations (this might surprise you, it did me) and the effects of it.
You can listen here:
A discussion with Bill Federer: Who was Christopher Columbus and why do we care?
A companion piece is here at American Minute:

ReplyDeleteGreat. The Shawnee, Apache, and countless other peoples made it over well before Columbus.
ReplyDeleteAnd, granted, the pale guys who came over did so from a much more crowded continent (therefore, a number of my ancestors brought diseases).
Still, had the pale guys not come, there is no evidence that the tribes over here would have been motivated to domesticate animals (or somehow produce horses -- which were not in the Americas). They likely would not have created the wheel (the best they did was a travois).
I remember Columbus Day from my days working for a contractor at NASA. That was one day of many where we could work without worrying about being interrupted by the government employees.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you were allowed on the work site.
DeleteWatching "The Curse of Oak Island". If we can believe carbon dating, others may have made it to North America LONG before Cristobal Colombo.
ReplyDeleteStay tuned. Maybe we'll celebrate another Federal 3-day weekend?
They didn't have good publicists.
DeleteIMO, Mark 1:1 is correct:

And no written language either.
No cinema either.
DeleteOn last nights news, they had the story of a father who wanted to tell the “School Board” the story about his daughter who was raped in a school bathroom by a transgender sBoy who was dressed in a skirt and who attacked, and raped his daughter in the Girl’s bathroom and HE was prevented from speaking to school board officials at a public meeting and then thrown to the floor, and thrown out of the room by at least 4-5 Police officers .These are the Domestic Terrorist that President Xiden has sent his storm troopers out to oppress!. Is this the sort of "Terrorist Parents” Biden wants to set the FBI on? The victim becomes the criminal in Biden's dysfunctional America. This is where we are in Joe Biden Land. It is TOTALLY Sad, to see that has become of this Country in such a short period of time. Because of the ILLEGITIMATE, MORONIC President that was INSTALLED by the Democrat Socialist Party.
