A=B, B=C, A=C

I was on the air with Bill Bennett this morning to talk about The Donald.
A caller had called in earlier.
His name is Marty.
Marty said he unsterstands that Trump has some not so conservative history (single payer, etc.).
That's an understatement.
Bill said that Trump has had more shifts than a European sports car.
Marty thought the big draw for Trump was that he is anti- GOP establishment.
Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, etc.
My point is that so is Hilarry, Bernie, Pelosi and Reid, three of whom Trump has supported.

So if Trump is opposed to Boehner and Mitch McConnell, so are the Dems/Libs/Socialist/Commies.
The enemy of my enemy is my enemies enemy.
No more, no less.
So Trump and the Dems oppose the GOP elite.
I am not surprised

And I like this sign.

  1. Which letter is Trump and which letter is the establishment again? I never liked algebra. or is this geometry?

"The enemy of my enemy is my enemies enemy." I like that. However, the democrats have already vanquished the establishment republicans. That tribe has been defeated, so to support an establishment republican means you have to live on the liberal reservation.

Bottom line for me is that I will never knowingly support an establishment republican again because "its better than the alternative". That narrative has been proven false. That said, I would "hold my nose" and vote for Trump based on his message today. Things are so broken (maybe even FUBAR) that this admittedly would be a "Hail Mary" that just "might" work. I know we disagree on this.

I do, however, remain a Cruz guy. He is my letter "A".

    1. In the general, I would vote for any non-Democrat candidate run by the Republican party.
I qualified that at the end because third party would be futile.
I'm just saying that positionally, Trump has not differed much from Hillary and as her, is seen as a threat to the GOPe.
That's why we need to be choosier in the primaries which is the only way to get Cruz.

I understand the sentiment, but would counter that as long as anyone inclined towards a 3rd [or 4th] party concedes that it's futile...it always will be. Then we're simply stuck with two parties and their media allies, who are more interested in their own power, than the good of the Republic.

As Virginia has open primaries, I may cast for a GOP candidate, but haven't decided which one. In the general, I'll almost always vote Libertarian, to work towards automatic ballot access.

    3. I thought of this as I read one of your comments at AOW's.
      Thanks for commenting here.
There would have to be a groundswell of independents forming that third party to give it a shot.
      I don't see it.

    4. I agree, it's a longshot....but nothing will change....without the will to change. Submission to the current system is servitude.

I don't see the relevance of the sign, as what many perceive as "offense" to seeing the name Jesus.....is actually offense to government venues being used to propagate a religious belief.

    5. Not in most cases CI.
Many people are just offended at the name of Jesus.

    6. Unless there is some sort of metric for "many people", I disagree.

    7. OK. We disagree. Still friends.
My metric is the number of people that I run into online and in "meatlife" that have a visceral hatred for things Christian. It always surprises me.

    8. Heh..."mealtime". New to me...I'll have to use that!

    10. Like the many typos it looks like I left at Western Hero today.
In a hurry, on a phone.
I knew what you meant. :)

  2. I think it goes like this: the enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. A word on that, however, is warranted. Bombing and killing your enemy's enemy, assuming your enemy's enemy is engaged in degrading your enemy, does not further your goals of defeating your enemy. Ensuring that your enemy's enemy continues its efforts in degrading your enemy is a sound policy.

Now, EMBRACING your enemy's enemy is an entirely different subject.

  3. I've known what Trump is for years. He's a Demoncrat. Period. It behooves me as to why even as he spouts all his vitriolic nonsense and many "conservatives", especially women, are flat on their backs counting ceiling tile. I'm convinced that most people are not qualified to vote. For one thing, it seems most do not want freedom anymore. My solution: make me Queen of this dump and all this will change. *wink* We would go back to requiring a person to be a land owner before being able to vote, etc. (Because even as Queen I would still want us to be a Republic of elected officials.) Also, I would disallow anyone on Welfare from voting. They have no skin in the game and therefore are not qualified to give an opinion.

Anyway, I really, really, really like that sign. We live way out in the country on several acres, I think I'll paint one and put it down by the dirt road.

Hope your day is blessed. ~:)

    1. If you paint one, I'd like to see it.
My day has been blessed. Thanks,
      May yours also be.

  4. I tried this yesterday but lost the comment due to my own ineptness. I phrased it better yesterday. Such is life. Remakes are never as good as the original.

The only problem with your theory is that the establishment GOP is at best a "neutral ally" of the progressives. They are not the enemy of my enemy, rather a less offensive alternative. Like the Democrats they only want to be in charge of the money, not reform.

I doubt I could ever vote for Trump. Mittens lost the last election because millions of conservative voters stayed home. For the first time in my life I will refuse to vote for the lessor of two evils. I will not hold my nose and vote for another Dole, Bush, McCain, or Romney milquetoast middle of the road Democrat light. Either the GOP offers up a true conservative or I will vote for an alternative or none of the above.

The Whigs became nothing more than a choice for those who did not want to vote Democrat and it took only two election cycles for a third party to make the Whigs irrelevant. The Republican Party needs to take a hard look at its own history.

Sure Trump is a snake oil salesman. But he is shouting what Americans want to hear. The establishment responds by sticking their collective fingers to their ear and chanting la la la la fighting the message. That makes them my enemy as much as the progressives.

Sorry to rant on so long.

    1. It's never a chore to read what you write.
I fully understand what you are saying (I think).
I knew I was mixing metaphors somewhat, but I was menatally exhausted when I wrote that and couldn't spend the time I should have dialing it in.
My point was really that both Trump and the Dems target the GOPelite leadershipm making Trump and Dems A and C.
People supporting Trump should know that.
      Your analysis is true.
      Thanks.

  5. Well, it's all moot, Ed.

The way those Teabag partisans bollocksed the Benghazi, Benghazi Benghazi hearings just about handed the nomination and presidency to her.

You should know your true enemies.
