A Fun Time Was Had by All :)

On Tuesday of last week, I was informed of work that needed to be done on some equipment our company had sold to a customer in Talladega, Georgia.
Some mechanical parts were to be replaced and some upgrades to the PLC programming would have to be made to accommodate the mechanical changes and some other separate issues the customer was having.

I was supposed to meet a service tech from our company down there over the weekend.
I assumed he was flying. Of course, I was wrong.

I was told I could drive or fly, my choice. Scherie and I talked about her driving with me so that she could drive a couple hours more south to visit our niece and her husband.
We determined that it would be too much of a strain on Scherie, due to the neuropathy she is suffering from having had shingles over a year ago..
So I booked a flight into Atlanta to rent a car and drive to Talladega.

I talked to my niece, and we discussed my driving down to their house Friday night after I arrived.
When I got to Talladega (actually my room was in Pell City, Alabama), it was 6pm. I had forgotten about the time zone change.
I called and told them I couldn’t make the drive.

I went to work the next day, Saturday, and we discovered that Fedex had lost the parts and would not have them to us in time to install. That left just the programming and wiring on my part.

We only had access to one of the two presses we were to work on, and the other would be available on Sunday. We got done early on Saturday and I started to drive back to the hotel to set up for my broadcast at 2pm. Rick Deitering had told me that he had lost power and was going to do a “best of” rebroadcast of an earlier show. So I was not needed at 1pm on his show. Excellent!

As I was driving to the hotel, I called Scherie, and she said she was listening to me on the radio on Rick's show. I told her that was not possible :)
That’s when I remembered the time zone difference and that I would only have minutes instead of an hour to prepare for my show when I got back to the hotel.

I made it, and was all set up, but discovered that my guest was not available due to the snow storm in Michigan, so I did a repeat of last weeks show.

My niece then texted that they had business with her husband’s family in Pell City that very day and were in town! So, we made dinner plans, and I met them at the Cracker Barrel in town. Wonderful!
They told me about the wonderful things Jesus was doing in their lives and the church they attended and the changes they were seeing in their lives, personally and career-wise.

The next day, we got the programming/wiring work done about 1pm, and the service tech announced that he was going to be driving his company truck back to Michigan. I volunteered to ride with him and help with the driving. I followed him to Birmingham Airport where I turned in my rental.

We drove overnight and when we hit Tennessee, we ran smack into a blizzard with temperatures in the 10’s and crosswinds. As we were driving, a pickup just in front of us decided to drive sideways.
Then he entered the center lane (we were in the left). Unfortunately, the car to the right of us plowed into him. I watched it all as we drove by. It caused a jam behind us, but we kept going.

In Ohio, it all cleared up. The service tech and I had talked all night as he drove. He's led an interesting life. I made a new friend.

I was delivered to my house at 5am Monday, I woke Scherie up, both of us slept until noon and then we went to breakfast.

 God is good.

  1. Interesting times, indeed. And Jesus is there with us, every step of the way. (Psalm 91:8)

  3. So sorry it all got messed up. I refuse to buy any product that ships through FedEx. They have lost or would not deliver more items meant for us than I care to remember. FedEx is a loser company.

  5. ... and the LA version of this story all takes place within a 150-mile stretch of I-5. Instead of a blizzard we get a few drops of rain from the sky - or a cloudburst and hydroplaning - with temperatures plummeting to 58, but it has the same effect on the drivers' psyches. :) If it's the first rain of the season you might as well be rolling on ice. You might be making friends with the Uber driver as you watch an autopilot taxi's software fail and it bumps the car next to you into your path. By the grace of God we all get home. In all, sounds like a good trip.

  6. Ed,
At least you can be thankful that you did not board one of the Boeing jets like that one that lit up the skies of Miami or the one that dropped a door for Alaska Airlines.

Wasn't Nikki on the board for Boeing when she went from broke politician to not-so-broke former politician?

  7. If you're one of the many people (like me) who thinks that much of America's population has sold its soul to a old, delusional, senile, Past his Prime Con Man that is as Crooked as they come. It’s high time that we do something more than just talk about it.
The one thing that we can do is take a second look at Donald Trump, and his ability to change things for the better. ,WHY? Because he is not bound by biblical teachings, not bound by biblical virtues, he is free to fight for us Americans in ways that NO Democrat ever would.
And he has already showed us that he can, The only thing stopping him is the Lies that Biden ETC> has been telly you and the other Morons in Biden's Crooked administration.
MAGA followers are very good people who only want to MAKE THIS COUNTY GREAT AGAIN! Whats so bad about that? , And Trump does a very good job at it.

  8. Lets see now, there were Three AMERICAN Soldiers that were killed and over TWO DOZEN of them that were wounded. in Jordan.

And Biden’s military will do nothing about it. Iran has known what they were doing since their Terrorists chased us out in Afghanistan and Biden did NOTHING then, except RUN OUT without the Billions of Dollars worth of our Equipment.
So why would anyone think that he’d do anything different now?
We are Undermanned, Ill Equipped and only doing Sex Change Surgeries right now. And NOT worried enough about the Safety of our Troops, or our Nation!
I guess that Biden’s giving Iran $6,000,000,000 didn't buy enough "Good Will"
WTF are we doing there, besides being targets for those Muzzy loons? So, if Biden goes after Iran now, he will have his own war to deal with. And guess who will suffer? That's Biden's Big Gamble, and who knows, it could include bringing Russia and China into the mix.
So now the American voters will see how Idiotic Biden and his Screwed-Up administration of GREEN SOCIALISTS are. And he just gave the Election to Donald Trump... Like it or Not!

  9. Although I have admittedly already shared this today, it bears repeating: I've found something that summarizes Biden's border policies:

In fact, a screen door on a submarine makes more sense that Joe's border policy.

"Peter, So what should Biden do? Declare war and invade Iran?"

YES!, Damn IT, he should have retaliated! Perhaps He Should have Bombed the Hell out of their OIL Fields! that may have been a Good Start.
There were 165 Attacks on our Ships prior to that HORRIBLE ATTACK. What the hell do you think he should do, call for a BEER CONFERENCE, like Obama would have done?

And why didn't ANYONE send their Condolences to the Parents of the Soldiers who were killed?

  12. The way that I see it,it is past the time that we need to STOP calling our fellow Americans names, and get on the same page to DO SOMETHING about the way our Country is heading, and heading very quickly.
As I see it today just to say we are in VERY deep trouble is an gross understatement. To just say we are a Democratic Republic, and that we will remain a Democratic Republic with a functioning Constitution is a very debatable thought. . We must do something about our current situation, we MUST start somewhere and NOW. Now is the time to do something drastic about the way we are represented, and WHO is leading our Country. And preferably by choosing a proven President who loves America and who can withstand the Progressive Communist Democrats that have thrown the “Kitchen Sink” at him, and he is still standing.
Today’s Progressive Communist Democrat Politicians appear incapable of comprehending just how bad the situation is.
After giving the Billions of dollars that the Democrats gave to Iran, we are now seeing how they spend it.!
We desperately need to RID ourselves of the weakling inept Man who is currently “Leading” this country. Just to tell the people that want us DEAD, “DON’T” is not the solution that we so desperately need.
My Vote is for Donald J. Trump.
