The Necessity of Childhood Vaccinations

There has been much discussion, particularly in social media, over the  necessity of childhood vaccinations. It gets very heated.

One conflict is the concept of personal liberty vs government demands for parents to do something they see as dangerous to their children.

Yet the responsibility of parents to protect their children from vaccination is also counterbalanced by the  responsibility of parents to protect their children from maladies introduced by others.

Maladies that can spread like wildfire through such a closely compacted environment.

The children are forced there to be in close proximity, taking in all that is floating about in the environment we insist they inhabit.

These children have had no prior exposure to these maladies and are therefore very susceptible to them.

Maladies like socialism, communism, collectivism, an unwarranted fear of the climate and the planet conspiring to kill them unless they submit all their personal freedoms to the government.

If you can't home-school or avoid sending your children to a school of your own choice, you must vaccinate your children to protect them.

May I suggest a heavy dose of:
Proverbs 22:6 New King James Version
     Train up a child in the way he should go,
     And when he is old he will not depart from it.
and similar.

On top of that, regular exposure to
     When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people
     to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another 
     and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal 
     station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them ... 

You must protect them from toxic elements.
If you don't, they might end up like this:

That would be tragic.
Or they might end up like these kids, fearing for their lives from a killer climate.




Come on parents!
Wise up!     Like Spike Lee said: "Do the right thing!". Not the left thing.

  2. I remember standing in a long line for the polio vaccine. It was a gift from God to those that feared their children would succumb to the disease. They'd seen the terrible damage.

    Those that oppose vaccinating are clueless to what they promote. A few months in a third world village would probably give them more insight into what damage they are willing to do for a belief without merit.

    1. I too have benefited from vaccination, but I won't get the flu vaccine. I wonder if we need the vaccinations for children because we throw them all in the same room for long periods of time, even sick, because mom or dad won't be at home to watch them.
      This doctor wrote a book years ago. Dr. Solomon, famous guy out of Chicago, on the Illinois Board, had a national column, wrote "Modern Medicine" and he took it apart.
      Lost his Board seat and column.
      He pointed out that having hospital births led to the increase in jaundice in newborns. They all caught it from each other in the nursery! Anyways, he made me a skeptic of a lot of Modern Medicine. Not medicine.

    2. As a kid, I got all my vaccines and so did my daughters. If and when they have children, I will counsel that they get vaccinated as well. IMO the benefits of vaccinations far outweigh the risks.

      The older I get, however, the more skeptical I become about certain aspects of science and how its clarity has been sullied by financial and political gain. If scientific method isn't followed and if stringent peer review isn't required, then there is room for scams such as global warming and/or anthropogenic climate change which is unacceptable in our modern world.

      BTW from what I know about jaundice in newborns, it isn't contagious, but is common. The condition can occur because a child’s liver is still developing, and it can’t remove bilirubin fast enough, hence the yellowish appearance of the skin.

      In adults, while jaundice itself isn’t contagious, it’s possible to transmit the underlying causes of jaundice to another person, as in viral hepatitis.

  3. Irrespective of receiving daily oral or future injectable depot therapies, these require health care visits for medication and monitoring of safety and response. If patients are treated early enough, before a lot of immune system damage has occurred, life expectancy is close to normal, as long as they remain on successful treatment. However, when patients stop therapy, virus rebounds to high levels in most patients, sometimes associated with severe illness because i have gone through this and even an increased risk of death. HIV can hide in these cells without being detected by the body’s immune system.   6. I see what ya did there Ed! The supply of vaccine seems to be shrinking in the public arena though. and sometimes a mutant strain (insert college name here) undoes your precautions. we need to stop sending our children to those universities thinking they have a good immune system. I made that mistake with my first. I pray he beats this infection.

      A friend of mine was telling me that a couple days ago his nephew, an engineer at Ford's, was changing his investment strategy.
      I asked why, and he said because of all the new Young Engineers that are coming on who feel that everything should be free.
      There's no way the working class is going to be able to pay for the sponging class.

  8. What about those of us who react horribly to a live-virus vaccine? In 2015, I was given the chickenpox vaccines, a series of two shots (the second of which gave me a case of the shingles) because I never had chickenpox as a child. The end result: kidney trouble.

    Or to multiple-vaccinations injections? As was the case with me when I was 6 months old. I ended up in the hospital for a week.

    Three doctors -- a primary care doc, a neurologist, and a urologist -- have all now declared, "Don't you ever get another live vaccine!"

    I don't advocate for no vaccines. But I do think that some react to vaccines -- and react in horrible ways, too. Are there ways to tell in advance? Maybe. Food allergies can be a big tip-off.

    BTW, the vaccination that caused all the trouble when I was 6 months old was the DPT shot. My father was adamant that I be vaccinated against diphtheria because his sister had died of that disease, my mother adamant about pertussis because she saw many babies who had perished of it.

    1. I'm a vaxxer skeptic. Multiple injections into young bodies with little regard for their immune system development seems risky. The quality and formulation of the vaccines is questionable. My Army Medic son will not allow any of his children to receive a shot until he personally reads the literature that accompanies all vaccines.

      Have you seen the comparison tables for the vaccines given some 50 years ago and the vaccines now? So many now! I don't doubt that some young immune systems can't cope with the onslaught.

      We got hit with one or two that eliminated the heavy hitters, polio and smallpox.
      Now it's a vax for every conceivable issue.
      But I still think biggest contagion in schools is socialism.

  9. Very interesting way to approach the subjects of our out of control education institutions. I have been puzzling over this problem for some time, and have little to offer other than some rants. Maybe that is appropriate some times, but I like to try to figure out ways to solve problems.

    The best I can offer is to find a present-day educational General Sherman to burn it all down so we can start over, again. I think this is a plausible solution, and for proof look back to the 1960's in the Old South where racial integration and school busing in Memphis, TN spurred the Southern Baptists to deploy an entire k-12 school system virtually over night. It is still operating and accredited. This was done for all the wrong reasons, but it can be done, and it can be done, fast.

    I don't think most people would consider this a viable option, but I see this as the Occam's razor of solutions.

      The problem is the inertia of sending kids to "free" schools.
      I had hoped charter schools would be the answer, but I suspect not.
      Schools have become daycare centers so mom and dad are free to pursue other goals, such as increased income.

  11. Herd immunity is the bottom line issue. When you do not vax, you weaken the entire herd. Look at what happened with the latest measles outbreak in the anti-vax community in Oregon.

  12. Good post, Ed...Sorry I don't get around much anymore....too busy and limited focus, frankly!
    I thought you were going to echo my viewpoint of CHILDREN DO NOT INSULT AND FORCE THEMSELVES ON ADULTS (If one could refer to Feinstein as an adult...!)
    Isn't it awful about vaccinations, kids are certainly getting sick again....the trouble is I don't see why people care so much, since EVERYBODY IN MY CHILDHOOD got measles and NOBODY DIED. What's with this new fear of the childhood normal diseases like mumps and measles? It was expected that you got them. And they went away! GeeeeZ!

      They trust "science".
      I have no problem with science, but when a "cure" for acne might cause seizures or some such, why do we accept that?
      Of course, given the focus of my post, if attending public education causes socialism, why so we accept that?

    2. The children behaved the way they did because of the contagion they were exposed to. that contagion told them they were more right than the adult and therefore did not need to respect her.
